HEALTHY ANXIETY VS. ANXIETY DISORDERS
Like all higher mammals, human beings have a “Fight-or-Flight” response. This is the body’s automatic response to a perceived threat. Something appears to be a threat to our safety and our body kicks into gear, preparing us to either fight the threat or flee from it. We might start breathing faster to oxygenate our muscles, sweating to preemptively cool ourselves, or experience a feeling of unease that leads us to scan our surroundings.
All of the above is normal and temporary if our nervous system resets after. However, if fight or flight symptoms remain in our body, even after the threatening condition has left, we struggle with anxiety. With all forms of Anxiety, the Fight-or-Flight response is either continuously “on” or majorly overreacts to certain stimuli. When the nervous system does not reset to its normal resting state, anxiety can become chronic and debilitating.
And since Anxiety includes a physical element as well as a psychological one, prolonged or severe Anxiety can lead to insomnia, exhaustion, and other physical difficulties. Using Direct Neurofeedback, LANC can help address these types of Anxiety and others not listed here.
“I highly recommend the LA Neurofeedback Center for anyone suffering from anxiety. The process is simple and quick. I have greatly benefited from my sessions. I am clearer, calmer, more focused and motivated."

ANXIETY DISORDER SYMPTOMS & ANXIETY TRIGGERS
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) | Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) | Panic Disorder | Social Anxiety disorder | Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Constant worrying over something without an identifiable cause, to the point it consumes you or your loved one’s thinking is likely GAD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Social Anxiety Disorder, as its name implies, is characterized by overwhelming anxiety and self-consciousness in everyday social situations. Panic Disorder is characterized by panic attacks: unexpected and repeated episodes of intense fear.
Panic attacks are usually accompanied by physical symptoms: heart palpitations, increased heartrate, and shortness of breath. Anxiety can also manifest as a Phobia. A Phobia, is when you or your loved one are confronted with something relatively harmless, yet, your “Fight-or-Flight” reflex kicks into high gear, treating the situation as a massive threat. The reaction is severely out of proportion to the moment and often has no logical causation.

ANXIETY MANAGEMENT & ANXIETY CURES
Traditional solutions for anxiety often involve medications, which can produce significant side effects. Finding the right medication or combination of medications can take time, and the process of being weaned off may take months. If you are currently taking medication for Anxiety, Depression, or any other emotional or psychological disorder, be sure to tell your NeuroCoach on your first visit.
Psychotherapy is valuable. Yet it can take considerable time to be effective. And anxiety symptoms such as insomnia, exhaustion, and other physical difficulties can prove a barrier to being fully present and available in sessions. Clients can have the best of intentions, yet the dysfunction to which their nervous system has acclimated can be a roadblock. Do not stop taking medication or adjust your dosage without consulting your prescribing physician.

HOW DIRECT NEUROFEEDBACK HELPS ANXIETY
Numerous studies have shown that biofeedback is an effective way for the treatment of Anxiety.
DNFB is the latest in biofeedback, using a very weak micro current to produce a subtle change in the patterns of brainwaves. In the case of Anxiety, the brain is either reminded to reset itself to its “normal,” anxiety-free state or to create new neural pathways that do not lead to overreaction. Thus, you are able to manage your reaction rather than slipping into compulsive or over-reactive responses. You have a buffer.
Think of it like rebooting a computer that has frozen up. A reboot allows the computer to discontinue the routine that rendered it stuck. Afterwards, the tiny differences between the processes that were functioning when the computer froze and the processes that work after rebooting allow the computer to perform tasks with ease. DNFB will not take your fight or flight response away; yet DNFB can remind your ANS how to work functionally.
RESULTS FROM DIRECT NEUROFEEDBACK
Since LANC Direct Neurofeedback sessions only last about 30 minutes and are usually done twice a week for the first 3 weeks, improvement may be seen quite quickly, especially when compared to medication and/or psychotherapy. As you or your loved one’s sessions progress, your anxiety-free periods will grow longer, and episodes will be less severe and shorter in duration. Your brain will begin to accept the resting state as its “new normal.”
Ultimately 15-25 sessions culminate in enduring change for you or your loved one. Results may vary depending on the type and severity of one’s Anxiety. Progress may be more difficult to discern in cases where Anxiety is triggered by certain conditions that the client now chooses to avoid, but improvement is happening. When considering treatment for anxiety, DNFB can offer a reset for your nervous system often felt in the first session.
NeuroCoaches customize packages according to your needs. This initial intake session costs only $89.00 at our West LA and South Bay offices, and is the first step towards a happier, healthier, more effective you.
